I am a registered Clinical Psychologist, and the Clinical Director of mindSMART. I have largely been in private practice since 1995, both in Australia and England. In the government sector, I worked at the Dept of Health’s Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) 2004-2014, to provide therapy and emergency support for victims of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse, and then on the DBT team at Osborne Clinic 2014-2016, to assist clients with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.
I have a Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical) from Murdoch University, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Western Australia, and additional specialist studies in Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming. I have a Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science, also from the University of Western Australia.
During my postgraduate Clinical Psychology studies I completed specialist mental health training at Graylands Hospital and the Alma St Centre. During my postgraduate Forensic Science studies I was rigorously trained to give Expert Evidence in Court. I was also the Chief Investigator of a research study at the Western Australian Department of Health into the impact of childhood sexual abuse on adult attachment.
I have served as an Expert Witness in the Children’s Court, Family Court and Federal Court. I am on the Single Expert Witness List at Legal Aid WA.
I am registered with the Psychologists’ Board of Australia, endorsed to practise in clinical psychology. I am an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
My work experience, formal qualifications and other professional training have provided me with an understanding of trauma responses and specifically those related to physical and sexual assault, sexual abuse and post traumatic symptomatology.
